Lashing Punishment of Jamshid Lack, A Member of Gonabadi Dervish Group

By IHRV | January 31, 2009

p1030646.jpgThe prosecutor’s office summoned Jamshid Lack to appear in the city of Dorood on Thursday, January 21.  Once Mr. Lack appeared at the court, the sentencing of 74 lashes was carried out against the Gonabadi dervish.  He was charged with making accusations to judiciary and political officials against the Ministry of Intelligence in Dorood.

In a complaint letter Mr. Lack had sent to authorities, he cited repeated summoning by the Ministry of Intelligence in Dorood, causing distress to his person and his family members and injuries inflicted by the Intelligence agents, which caused bleeding in his gums and in his mouth, which occurred in January of 2006.

After writing the complaint letter, the Ministry of Intelligence in Dorood issued its own charges of libel against Mr. Lack, causing his detention for 11 days by an order from the prosecutor’s office.

The practice license of Mostafa Daneshjo, the lawyer representing Mr. Lack, was also revoked in regard to this case and he was debarred as a result.
