zjf4p4.jpgReport by Advocates for Protection of Human Right in Iran

Iranian advocates for protection of human right in Europe and North America have prepared a report describing preplanned, continuous and gross violations of workers right during 1386 (2007).
On 12 of Ordibehesht (May 1st) to commemorate International Labor Day (May 1st) and events that have reflected wide spread and continues attacks to undermine human right in Iran, a number of Iranian advocates in Europe and North America have prepared their annual report to report on the conditions of the workers in Iran.

With an evident sensor on internal media and lack of immunity for activists advocating human right, political, social issues and lack of free and independent labor organizations,
The report will naturally be incomplete and it will not cover all instances of workers right violations comprehensively.

In 1386 (2007), blocking of “Ilna” web site, as a resource for information gathering and sharing on the conditions of the workers, limited information gathering.

In reference to this report, readers are alerted to a number of points as following:
• The text of annual human right violations report has been prepared by “Iranian advocates for protection of human right located in Europe and North America” and it is in the abbreviated form and as such it omits the name of the people and exact nature of violation.
• Against rules set by International Labor Organization, a committee appointed by minister of labor and public relations is sent to represent Iran in ILO meeting in Geneva.
• More than 100,000 child labors are in danger of infection with Hepatitis B in the country.  This is due to lack of attention and vaccination by the department of health .
• Report covers Farvardin 1st (March 21) through end of Esfand 1386 (March 20, 2007).
• Number of cases collected are 308 and they are also included in the monthly our publicatio.
• In 1386 (2007) 98,638 cases in which salaries or benefits have not been fully paid.
• 30,609 workers were unemployed.
• 52 cases of workers arrest by security organs.
• 34 people have been called to appear in the court.

A group of people from the cities of Tonekabon, Abas Abad, Kajvar, Chaloos and Nou Shahr by signing an open letter addressed to Ayatollah Hashemi Shahroodi, head of the judiciary committee and requested freedom of political prisoner, Mr. Abolfazl Jahandar.

The open letter which was signed by more than 1,000 people from the aforementioned cities, also contains signature of support from members of the Abad Abad city council, the mother of martyr Shiroodi and group of other martyrs family members states the following:
To Jonoable Ayatollah Shahroodi, president of judicial body:

With all due respects, we are informing you that Mr. Abolfazl Jahandar Lashaki has been in detention since 29 Mordad 1385 (Aug. 20, 2006).  His father was one of the volunteer fighters during the period of Holey Defense who is from the lower economical echelon of our society and he is now retired with an advanced age.

The undersigned and a group of citizens from the cities of Tonekabon, Abas Abad, Chaloos and Nou Shahr and territory of Kajvar are requesting in the year designated toward blossoming and creativity and considering that the prisoner has spent more than half of his jail term, that he is pardoned and be allowed to return to his family.
On this subject, Mr Hadi Kahal Zadeh, a member of central council for Iranian high school organization  in conversation with Advor News stated: “unfortunately, continuation of detention without reasonable justification and deny legal  right of Mr. Abolfazl Jahandar and Mr. Saeed Derakh-shandi (another prisoner), is a gross violation of their human rights for these 2 political prisoners and their continued detention has been unbearable”.

Mr Kahal Zadeh underlined a number of other similar cases where prisoner’s rights are violated in the recent years and said: “In case of Mr. Abolfazl Jahandar and Mr. Saeed Derakh-shandi, there are a numerous instances where unnecessary continued detention and extra judicial treatment are cited. These include, denial of free and personal time to both political prisoners in the last 19th months and even tough, both have spent more than half their sentencing, but they are still not eligible for conditional release.  Our friend, soon after their arrest started their imprisonment and although their case is a political one they are kept in section of jail reserved for non political.

A member of central council for Advor organization acknowledged that the basis for the cases against both prisoners are, irrelevant web logs publishing and reference by prosecutor to some personal photos.  He also stated: “bad nourishment, physical and mental conditions, is a major source of worries for the family of the prisoners and we hope that at the least, the president of judicial body observes the basic rights of both political prisoners and allow them to exercise their rights and participate in the parole program”.  Mr. Kahal Zadeh pointed out that, the open letter will be sent to the office of head judiciary with the next few days.
