Farzad Islami Detained
By IHRV | November 8, 2009
In the morning hours of November 4, Farzad Islami, a law student from Tehran’s Azad University Central campus, was detained by agents from the Ministry of Intelligence and, following the search and seizure of his personal effects, Mr. Islami was taken to an undisclosed location.
Mr. Islami was chief editor of the banned Binesh paper, and he was an ex-chairman of the Islamic Student Center in Tehran’s Azad University. Following student protests in the first six weeks since the school’s opening, the disciplinary committee inside the university sentenced Mr. Islami with three terms suspension from attending classes.
