Detention of Five Students from Mazandaran University following November 3 Gathering

After a protest by Mazandaran University students on November 3, agents from the Ministry of Intelligence began detaining a number of students. So far, the total number of detained students is said to be five.
The first detained student was identified as Ashkan Zahabian; he was detained after appearing in Babul’s prosecutor’s office on November 1, and he was previously detained for 30 days last July.
Later, on November 2, Siavash Rezaeian was detained and released the following day. On November 6 Mr. Rezaeian was detained for the second time.
Behnam Farazmand and Zavoush Gerayeli, two other students from Mazandaran University, were detained by security in the university during a gathering and delivered to agents from the Ministry of Intelligence in the town of Babulsar on November 3.
Mehdi Davoudian, a Social Science student in Mazandaran University, was detained in his residence on the evening of November 4 during a raid by Intelligence agents and taken to Babul Prison.
On November 11, Mr. Farazmand and Mr. Zahabian were released after being interrogated and posting 30,000 USD bonds. There is no further information on the statuses of other students.
