Iran’s Interior Ministry Rejected Formation of Iranian People’s Unity Party

By IHRV | December 1, 2009

In 2004, the Iranian People’s Unity Party received approval to form a new party from a party commission governing under article 10, and after years of uncertainty, the commission recently rejected the request in a letter.

Ahmad-Reza Ahmadpour, a cleric researcher working in the field of theology and a political activist in the town of Qum, was selected by the founding members to chair the party.

Readers are reminded that the letter received by the party founders did not cite any penal article or the commission of any crime to warrant the annulment of the party.
