Issuing Prison Sentencing against Azeri Activists

According to a report made available from the city of Tabriz, Fardin Moradpour and his brother Morteza Morapour have been sentenced to a six-year and a three-year jail term, respectively.

During Mr. Fardin’s detention, which took place in Shah Goli while the third anniversary of a protest by Azeri people was underway, he was shot in his shoulder and sustained some injuries.

Also, yesterday, a group of agents from the Ministry of Intelligence, sent from Tehran, took Mr. Fardin to an undisclosed location in Tabriz from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and during this period he was subjected to further interrogation and threats.

Others also detained in connection with the protest and the gathering by Azeri people received long-term imprisonment sentences ranging from three to six years.  This group of detainees includes Hasan Moradpour, Jalal Rajabzadeh, Naser Badali, Ali Badali, Ali Rahimi, Amin-Pasha Gharehbaghi, Ahad Fathi-Kandroud, Arash Eshgh-Moulan, Behzad Sadeghian-Fard and Vahid Aghajani.
