Release of Eight Women Activists

Eight women’s activists who were arrested last week by Tehran’s police and security guards were released on Friday after posting bail.
After their release the detainees stated that they were interrogated without knowing what the charges against them were, and were also questioned about their political views and activities. The arrested activists were identified as: Nasrin Sotodeh, a lawyer specializing in the rights of women and children; Ida Saadat, Jelveh Javoheri, Nahid Mirhaj, Sara Loghmoni, and Nafiseh Azod, all activists in the women’s rights movement; and Farideh Ghayeb and Zhila Bani Yaghob, both known for their journalism.
