Issuing Harsh Sentences against Eleven Baha’i Residents

The Revolutionary Courts in the city of Mash-Had, in an unprecedented move, have issued harsh sentences against eleven residents in this city.
According to the sentencing, individuals accused of spreading propaganda against the regime, attempts against national security, membership and active roles in professing the Baha’i religion, and spreading propaganda and association with foreigners, were sentenced to five-year jail terms and a ban from traveling outside of the country for 10 years. The accused have been identified as:
Davar Nabilzadeh
Houman Bakhtavar
Sima Eshraghi
Jalayer Vahdat
Roya Rajabian
Kaviz Nouzdahi
Nahid Ghadiri
Nasrin Ghadiri
Rozita Vaseghi
Readers are reminded that in recent days the sentences for two other Baha’i residents in Mash-Had, identified as Babak Rouhi and Ezzatullah Ahmadian, whose trials were held last September, have also been issued, and that according to the court’s ruling, each has been sentenced to three years of suspended sentencing, which will remain in effect for the next five years.
