Kian Tajbakhsh Sentenced to a Five-Year Jail Term

Hoshang Azhari is Kian Tajbakhsh’s defense lawyer, and he recently stated that, following an appeals court review of his client’s case, that his client was sentenced to a five-year jail term.

Mr. Azhari added: “The sentencing has been reduced favorably; in other words, with a reduction to two-thirds of the original sentencing, he [Mr. Tajbakhsh] is sentenced to a five-year jail term.”

Mr. Tajbakhsh is among a group of detainees arrested following the disputed election.  Mr. Tajbakhsh was charged with attempts against national security; espionage and contact with foreign elements posing a danger to the regime; accepting an advisory role in the Soros Foundation in Iran in an attempt to soft topple the Islamic regime; spreading propaganda against the regime; casting doubt on the results of the election and undermining public trust with respect to the country’s authorities and officials; causing a public disturbance and promoting fear and hysteria in society.
