Students in Khajeh Nasir Toosi University Did Not Receive Final Grades Due to Improper Clothing

By IHRV | July 22, 2010

With the end of final exams in Khajeh Nasir Toosi University last week, a number of professors in the school of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering are refusing to release the final grades of a group of students, citing improper dress code.

The entrances to the university are draped with banners to promote Islamic dress code and security guards have also started to harass students over their clothing style, and the situation has interfered with students’ academic works.

In one instance, one of the professors in the school of Mechanical Engineering, who is also a deputy in the school, placed a hyphen instead of an appropriate grade in front of the names of a number of students, both male and female.  The professor has said that the grades will only be released when the students sign forms agreeing to comply with an acceptable dress code and to exercise caution over their relationships with other students.

Readers are reminded that in recent months students have been exposed to many pressures over dress code violations.
