Adeleh Ziae, Wife of Arya Aramnejad, Banned from Leaving the Country

By IHRV | July 22, 2010

According to an order issued by the prosecutor in the city of Babul, Adeleh Ziae, the wife of Arya Aramnejad, has been banned from leaving the country.  Also, in an unusual step, a branch of Saderar Bank in this city has blocked the bank account of the activist artist.

The prosecutor has issued the order in connection with an article published by the activist.  According to the same sources, the prosecutor is using such tactics as a means of placing more pressure on Mr. Aramnejad, who is a singer and a composer in this city.

Ms. Ziae herself is a poet and a writer whose works have been banned from publication for some time by an order imposed by the Ministry of Guidance.

During March of this year, in a sign of protest against her husband’s detention, Ms. Ziae wrote a piece in Mr. Aramnejad’s personal blog under the title of “I’m Sorry”, and part of the writing said: “I’m sorry to say that dear Arya made a mistake, to think in his beloved country law and freedom – ah, freedom! – honor and justice are to be any more practical than just deceiving words; he made a mistake, for he did not realize, here is Iran, a place where anything can happen, and anyone possessing power can do anything, one wishes”.
